While John's writing is always top notch, the photos of this trip stole the show. Not like any I've seen - they make the desert look beautiful, mysterious and cozy all at the same time. Kudos, John and Les!
Hi John, as always I was not disappointed in your explanations of your recent trip. Loved the picture from Dead Horse Point Overlook of the CO River. Just amazing. It was so fun that you had so many great photos of your journey. We were coming back from Temecula last week after going to a fun park there that had a fabulous bike park connected to their campground, it's called Velocity Bike Park. We were driving and we were hit with winds at least 50 MPH...very scary on our way home. I totally get the windy scare. We knew they were coming and left early, but were still hit by them. Our Class C RV is 25 feet. Well where and when is your next adventure? How's Leslie's wrist?
Hi Jill. Glad you enjoyed it. Leslie is recovering -- the splint is off, and she's doing physical therapy, so hopefully will be able to participate more fully in our next journey. That's a more ambitious itinerary: We'll be on the road for nearly a month, following the route of the old Santa Fe Trail from Santa Fe, New Mexico, to Independence, Missouri, and then following the Oregon Trail emigrant route from Independence to Oregon City, Ore. We depart on April 15, return May 10.
My new rule of thumb is that when the wind velocity approaches the highway speed limit, we pull off and take a break!
Hi, WOW sounds like an ambitious and exciting plan. Can't wait to hear all about it. Hopefully, Les is healed enough to help with the driving part of the trip. Question..are the cats going to go with you guys?
It is a pretty ambitious plan. We are counting on Leslie being able to drive by then. She's recovering well so far. No, we miss the cats when we are gone but it would be kind of a nightmare to have them with us. They're better off with the house sitter we always have stay with them

Thanks, Patty. It's a very photogenic landscape!
Yeah, that's what I figured that you'd have a house sitter. Well, happy preparation for your trip!
I wish Next Chapter had room for an extra passenger. Your descriptions of your trips are magical. And the photos! The Campsite Sunset!!
Can’t wait to read about your next journey.
Thanks, Lisa!
